Field notes for short-term rental hosts
Calendar sync that actually works, cleaning automation that doesn't double-book the cleaner, and a host's GDPR checklist that fits on one page. Written by people who run listings, not affiliate sites.
Replacing an iCal link? Keep booked nights protected
A new calendar URL needs more than a successful save. Map its subscribers, update the right connection and compare booked nights before removing holds.
Maintenance hold: close dates, then reopen with a check
A repair appointment is not a guest-ready date. Close the right nights across channels, keep the work plan separate and verify readiness before reopening.

Removing a co-host? Close every access point, keep the bookings
A co-host's access lives on each platform, in your tools and on the door. Inventory it, remove it in order and give upcoming guests a working contact.

Guest count changed? Update the arrival preparation
More or fewer guests can change the beds, linen and arrival instructions a stay needs. Confirm the booking, update the preparation brief and check it was received.

Booking cancelled: should the cleaner still come?

Changed the rental Wi-Fi password? Update guest instructions
A working router is only half the job. Update messages, house manuals and Wi-Fi cards, then test what the next guest will actually receive.

Guest arrived before cleaning finished? A host's plan
An early arrival is not a readiness check. Confirm the agreed time, protect the turnover and give the guest a clear update before approving access.

Airbnb dates blocked but no booking? Check before reopening
A closed night may be a reservation, preparation time or a manual hold. Trace the source, confirm the reason and review the work needed before reopening it.

Two rentals, one cleaner: does the turnover route fit?

Airbnb dates changed? Update calendars and the cleaning plan
A guest extends, shortens or moves a stay. Check the confirmed booking, calendar availability and cleaner handover before treating the date change as finished.

Off-season math: close the listing or stay open?
Closing for the low season doesn't stop the insurance, the internet or the standing charges. The per-night contribution math on when staying open pays.
